About Me
- Name: The Real Shannon Stewart
I make things – performances, organizations, scores, films, workshops, blog entries, and conversations. I think it’s all dance and choreography. I work to learn about and integrate the concepts, issues, and fields of my interests through the knowledge, memories, and experiences of bodies. I think about the invitation created through the ritual of performance, relying on aesthetics to hide and reveal meaning, the rules of provocation created in any composition. I think about the complexity of human connection. I think about place, inequality and privilege. I think about the innocence and landscape of the body, ideas of safety and freedom, the promise of love and heartbreak and beginning again and again and again.
